Alcoholic beverages have become some people's best friend after a heartbreak or during a stressful time. Some men resort to this to drown away their sorrow and numb their bruised ego.For others, drinking is associated with their need to feel like a man, increase their testosterone levels and use it as an aphrodisiac.
We all have reasons why we drink alcohol the way we do and we all take it on various amounts, well that depends on the occasion. There are those who drink more than what they can, there are those who sip on expensive wine glasses and there are those who drink straight up without bothering to think of the people who will clean their mess after wards. The worst of them are those drinkers who swim in their own vomits, disgusting but it really happens and perhaps you might have experienced it at least once.
We are all aware of the problems and other consequences of drinking alcohol. Alcohol drinking has become a part of our society; we have seen our mothers fight our drunk fathers, the advertisements that flood the radio and TV frequencies; the posters of half-naked women holding a bottle of beer or gin; we've seen the images on the evening news regarding drunk driving, the man suffering from liver cirrhosis at the hospital, the "sunog-baga boys" who upon the rising of the sun, would conduct their "tagay" session.
Everything taken in excess is bad. Too much of something can be toxic so caution must be observed at all times. Abusing alcohol is dangerous and can lead one to be in conflict with the law. Moderation is the key to long life as an ad once said. Taking alcohol in moderation truly gives seriously beneficial effects. May it be wine, beer, gin, strong and hard as long as taken in moderation cannot be bad after all.
Research has found that the "pulutan" has a role in making alcohol drinking very bad to one's body. The "sisig" swimming on oil taken with beer is a bad idea. Intake of fats and alcohol may lead to a fatty liver and increased cholesterol levels which are precursors to a liver problem.
Alcohol has been used medicinally since the ancient times, even the Bible advertised drinking in many occasions. Remember that even Jesus turned water into wine. A number of studies have been done and showed that moderate alcohol consumption reduces the risk for heart disease and it has been concluded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism that "moderate drinking is associated with improved cardiovascular health". Even the American Heart Association reported that, "The lowest mortality occurs in those who consume one or two drinks per day."
A nationwide survey in the US has shown that moderate drinkers have less hospitalizations. So many studies have been done worldwide and they all agree that, "MODERATE CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL IS BENEFICIAL TO ONE'S HEALTH".
